Questions About Driver Update Software
This article will give you answer to some of your basic questions and offer a few tips on keeping your drivers updated.
What are drivers?
Basically, drivers are software codes that facilitate the communication between your computer’s software and hardware. Drivers should be kept up to date so that your computer stays efficient and stable.
What is the best way to update your drivers?
The best way to keep your drivers up to date is by using driver update software. While manual updating ensures that each driver is checked and updated by you, it takes up too much time to be efficient. Driver update software will take care of checking your drivers, downloading updates and installing them on your computer. With a good driver update software, you can keep your drivers up to date without the worry and hassle.
How do I find a good driver update software?
Ask around. If you have friends who use driver update software, ask them how efficient they find their software. You can also make use of driver update software reviews. These are product reviews that try out different software and list down the pros and cons of each one in comparison to other software of its kind.
What things should I look for in reviews that indicate a driver update software is good?
It really depends on what features you value most. If you make accuracy and efficiency priorities, then finding driver update software with highly efficient scanning is tops. If you want fast scans, you might go for products that offer prioritized scanning to cut down on the time.
However, good driver update products have things in common. They all have a lot of drivers in their database to ensure that you can find the right drivers. They are easy to use so that you won’t have to spend too much time on them. Lastly, they have good technical support that is accessible when you need help.

Learn About Video Driver Updates
What are drivers and why update them
Even though this article is about updating your video drivers. There is the generic information about all drivers.
Drivers are small pieces of software which go between the peripheral hardware (your video card) in this case and your operating system. They allow different devices (peripherals) work with different operating systems.
The operating system writer publishes an interface specification and the device manufacturers knowing their own hardware properties write the device driver to talk to both the hardware and the OS.
There are many reasons that the device driver may need be updated. These include:
Changes made to the operating system – new service packs may need upgraded drivers.
Bugs discovered in the drivers themselves – perhaps your video card driver does not work with a certain game which uses a feature in other video drivers but not that of this manufacturer.
Security holes are discovered – and you know that chances are someone will use those security holes to get into your computer.
How to manully update your video card driver
Before updating your video drivers I recommend that you save your curent drivers (you may have more than one for the graphic subsystem) and set a restore point. If you do not know how to do that I do not recommend that you update your video driver manually.
1. When updating your video card driver manually you first open your control panel.
2. Next open the display properties and select the settings panel.
This will show you the video card model and manufacturer:
3. Next go to the video card manufacturer’s site
Now that you know the model and manufacturer of your video card go to the manufacturer’s web site. Use your favorite search engine to find the manufacturer’s site.
Next navigate the site (typically it is downloads first then select model number and ultimately operating system).
Then download the new driver and run it by clicking on the driver. The whole process takes less than fifteen or so minutes. The problem is that if things go wrong they can really go wrong.
And suppose you mess up your sound card driver you lose your sound, but you can still restore your driver. But if your video card driver update goes wrong you may end up having no video and then where are you.
I imagine you can still boot up in the safe mode but I for one would rather not find out.
A simpler method which costs money is to use an automatic updater. This is much simpler and fool proof but does cost a little money. However, it may well be worth it as a friend made some mistakes in updating her computer and it cost her four hundred dollars to make her computer to run again.
You can always download these for free and scan the computer to tell you each of the drivers that need be updated. Then you can decide if you want to buy the product or not.

What You May Not Know About Your Tax Rebate/Economic Stimulus Check

What You May Not Know About Your Tax Rebate/Economic Stimulus Check
Have you already received your Tax Rebate check, or as they are now referred to, Economic Stimulus Check? Do you know the facts about this check? Do you know how yours will be delivered? Do you have important plans for your check? Just getting by? Paying off bills? No matter what you have planned our first concern is for the safe delivery of the check. With so many rumors floating around I decided to some research and find out more about the Economic Stimulus Check and dispel the myths surrounding it.
The Economic Stimulus Check is a tax rebate to taxpayers as a result of several income tax changes. Payments are sent out over the course of several weeks, with the mailing date to vary according the last two digits of the taxpayers Social Security number. For tax payers who filed electronically and had their tax refund direct deposited (or payment direct withdrawal) your income tax rebate will be direct deposited to your bank that was used for your deposit or payment. Taxpayers who submitted their income tax return via mail will have their checks issued the same day as those who filed electronically, however, their payments will be delivered via regular U.S. mail. If you have not paid your taxes or filed your return yet, your rebate will be held until that step is completed.
Many already know the amount to be issued to tax payers: 0.00 for individual taxpayer, 00.00 for married filing jointly, and a possible 0.00 per qualifying child, born after December, 1990. However, many people do not know that they may not receive those amounts. It is possible that your Economic Stimulus Check may be offset by back taxes owed, unpaid student loans and several other government factors. How will this affect you? It is hard to tell, and you won’t know your exact amount until your check arrives.
With the availability of money and the use of technology, it is no wonder that a new phishing scam has been created regarding the Economic Stimulus Check. Phishing scams are emails that attempt to lure you to a website to gain personal or financial information. One of the newest scams is a message that appears to be from the Internal Revenue Service delivered to your email address. And like many other phishing scams this message appears to be authentic and legitimate, especially since many tax payers file electronically and use their email address to confirm their filing status.
This message is used to gain your name, address, social security and even bank account information and provides you with a link to a website and the instructions to “click the link below and fill out the necessary information to receive your 2008 Stimulus Economic Refund.” If you do click the link, you are at the very least verifying that the message was sent to a “real” email address, leaving yourself open to other phishing scams, even if you do not complete the “form.”
The Internal Revenue Service website requests that if you receive this message you forward it to phishing@irs.gov. Do not open it. Not only can this message be a phishing scam but it could also contain viruses harmful to your computer. The information stolen is all that is needed to intercept your Economic Stimulus check or even to steal your identity.
Many antivirus and email programs contain phishing detection, but if you don’t, or if you are worried about the quality of the messages you receive you may look into purchasing an antivirus software system that also provides phishing scam detection, such as Stopzilla, F-Secure Internet Security Suite, or AVG Internet Security (one of the for pay products) Trend Micro PC-cillin and many more antivirus products are designing their software to detect and stop phishing scams before they can do harm to your computer, information and credit.
Have all your questions regarding your Economic Stimulus Check answered at the official IRS.gov website. Not only does it offer a section of Frequently Asked Questions, but it also provides the opportunity to legitimately check the status of your check.

Commonly Asked Questions About Driver Update Software

Commonly Asked Questions About Driver Update Software
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about driver update software.
What is a driver update software?
A driver update software is a program that automatically scans you computer and finds drivers that needs updating (corrupted, missing, and outdated drivers.) It makes this tasks a lot easier for an individual who has no time to update his drivers manually and/or he doesn’t know how to.
Why do I need to update my drivers?
Drivers function as a translator of codes and commands sent by the operating system to the hardware or part that it represents. Without them, the computer will not function normally. It will even cause damage to the hardware with the missing driver. Now, drivers need updating because as operating systems advance and as other parts upgrade, these “translators” should also be updated to keep up with these innovations. An outdated driver can cause incompatibilty issues which will then lead to the sloppy and abnormal functioning of your computer.
How does driver update software work?
After installation, the software scans your computer for drivers especially those that are outdated. It, then, browses its database and finds the latest update available for that certain driver. Depending on the brand (of driver update software) that you buy, it could either give you a summary of all the outdated drivers and with it, a list of available updates you can download or it notifies you through email. Once you find the updates that you want to install, just click on them and the software automatically downloads and installs them to your computer. Some driver update program would even create a back up for your old drivers just in case the update is defective.
What is the best driver update software?
This question is subjective because it depends upon the needs and wants of the user. If he values speed in scanning, then the best one for him is the brand that scans the fastest. If he values the database size, then he must get the one with the most drivers supported and the largest library of updates.
To find out what brand is best for you, check out several driver update software reviews over credible and reputable product review sites. These will help you compare and contrast features in order for you to decide on which one to get.

My Personal Review about Taylormade 2009 Burner Driver
Jan 1st
My Personal Review about Taylormade 2009 Burner Driver
Each and every year more and more clubs are coming out promising longer and straighter drives. The Burner bloodline runs deep at TaylorMade. The first Burner driver was introduced in 1983, and was quickly embraced by golfers of all skill levels for its remarkable blend of power and forgiveness. The Burner Plus driver followed in 1986, then came the Burner Bubble in 1995. In 2007 TaylorMade introduced a new Burner driver, which was the best-selling driver for the 2007 full year and 2008 season to date. The Tour Burner was launched in 2008, which Sergio Garcia used to win the year’s Players Championship and was the most played driver on tour last year. (TaylorMade Burner Driver 2009) Most of readers here at The Hackers Paradise know how I felt about the 2008 and that I simply thought it was a step backward for Taylormade and how good the 2007 model was. Would 2009 bring THP reviewers back to “Burner Land”?
Despite this driver being out for quite some time now, I wanted to go back and revisit it for my readers. The Taylormade R9 Driver review really opened up my eyes to the new equipment that they were putting out this year.
First impressions are a big key with clubs today and especially drivers. My initial thought with this one was a little different. I loved the look of the head and really got excited about trying it out. The club is noticeably longer than the drivers I have been testing and that worried me a little bit. The Headcover needs some work. It is too simple for all the technology inside these drivers.
The newest Burner driver ingeniously combines the SuperFast technology of the 2007 Burner with the Dual Crown technology of the Tour Burner. The result? In theory a driver weighing less than 300 grams that promotes faster swing speed, a higher launch angle and lower spin-rate, equaling a dramatic boost in distance. The first day it came in I took it out to the range for a demo session with a couple of really long hitters and my resident THP Teaching Professional. I warmed up and then took turns beating this driver into range balls and in a rare scenario, I had very similar feedback. At first glance, the driver looks so long that it could cause problems, but within 4-5 swings, nobody even noticed the extra length of it. However I noticed the extra length I was getting in terms of distance. All of the early testers felt as though this driver was as long as any driver I have tested this year. The 2nd thing that stood out for me was how low spin the driver was and it had a nice penetrating ball flight. I came away very impressed.
Armed with the driver I went over to a crowded range on a Saturday morning and let all kinds of players give it a run out there. Almost every one of the golfers commented on the head shape and how it is not really traditional but because of the creative graphics placement, when you setup you get the feeling that you are standing over a traditional shaped head. (Taylormade Burner SuperFast Driver 2010) One by one each golfer tried their current driver and then the new Taylormade Burner. The results were what I expected given my first day results. I had 23 golfers hit the club and 19 of them preferred the new Burner. To be fair, of the 23 golfers that participated, only 12 had drivers that were newer than 2006. But 19 out of 23 was big number. Feedback was very similar across the board. Most thought it would be hard to control initially, but once they took some swings with it had no problems. In fact the high handicappers seemed to enjoy the club and the control more than any of the other clubs they have tried. People that fought control off the tee reported back that they were hitting the ball straighter than before with the Burner.
I decided to personally take it out on the course for a couple of weeks worth of rounds and see what the verdict was on a course with very tight fairways. I play a fade with the ball off the tee and still had that, but with the Burner it was much less pronounced. It seemed as though I was also picking up some distance like the others were reporting. However I did not see the 10 yards or more that some were seeing. So after about 5 rounds, I was pretty much sold on the driver. You combine certain elements in a driver, you are sure to get a winner. (TaylorMade Burner TP Driver) I was extremely happy with how the stock shaft performed. It seems as though Taylormade has really stepped up their stock shaft offerings in recent years and the Burner is equipped with a lightweight grip and SuperFast RE*AX 49-gram graphite shaft. It seemed to work perfectly with the club head and my swing to produce one good drive after another.
Overall I think that Taylormade has put out two great lines for the 2009 season. I thought the R9 was great when I reviewed it last month, and now that I have revisited the Burner, I am sold so far on their new drivers for this year. If you are in the market for a new driver and your criteria is long and straight, then you will be glad that you checked out the Taylormade 2009 Burner.

What You Need To Know About Finding The Right Driver For Your Laptop

What You Need To Know About Finding The Right Driver For Your Laptop
Getting the right driver is essential for your computer and your peripherals. It might even be detrimental to the health of your entire network. In this article you will learn about what a driver is, what you need to know to determine what driver you need and where you can get the right device drivers for you computer.
What is a driver anyway? A driver is a small piece of software that is installed on your computer. It is software that “drives” a device. Your computer needs to know how to get each individual device working, whether it’s installed or plugged in, so if you consider the driver as the instructional manual that your computer reads, you can get the picture. You need the right device driver for your computer, because not all device drivers are created equally.
The device is based upon both your device and your operating system. A printer driver won’t be the same for your Vista machine as a video card driver. Without the right device driver, the computer becomes illiterate. If you have drivers for the same device but on two different operating systems, there are differences. Some people will also describe a driver as a liaison or a translator between the computer and the peripheral. Anything you add onto your computer can require a driver. Some items are considered plug and play but many require just a small program to act as that translator or instruction manual.
You may need device drivers when you install a piece of hardware or plug it in. You may also need device drivers when you do an operating system upgrade or a hard drive formatting. Sometimes our drivers are not compatible with new systems and other times we need new copies just because there was something corrupt on our computer that disrupted the integrity of the driver or deleted the software.
If you don’t install the right driver, not only will your device be unlikely to work but you could cause other problems. When a computer is looking for a device to initialize or command and it cannot find it, it can cause other networking problems including fatal errors. Be sure that when you download a driver, not only does the manufacturer and model number of the peripheral match but also that the operating system matches as well. This is something that is discussed in more detail on the website http://www.pcdriverhelper.com, which is filled with information on how to find the right driver for your laptop.
There are programs that can help you find the right drivers whether you are having problems with your computer after an upgrade or if you are determining what your requirements for upgrading an operating system will be. Beyond this, manufacturers and third party websites exist to guide you and help you find the right driver.
You might require drivers for any number of devices including: monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, scanner, plotter, USB port, Bluetooth device, video cards, PCMCIA cards and other hardware as well. But whatever you need it for, the golden rule is to make sure that the device driver is the right one or you could end up with malfunctioning equipment, not to mention a bad headache.

Malicious Thoughts About the Spyware Ills of My Pc

Malicious Thoughts About the Spyware Ills of My Pc
Introduction
Who would think I was capable of such revengeful thoughts about the parties responsible for inflicting my poor computer with spyware? Well, after the trauma of having gone through such an experience for the first time, I was sorely tempted by the occult section of curses and witchcraft at my local bookstore. Growl!
Basically, I am a normal person using a home computer to perform simple normal tasks such as word processing, writing emails, internet banking, and surfing the Internet for useful information. Ok, I also have a weakness for looking for bargains on good old eBay (sheepish grin) and Paypal is quite a handy option for easy purchasing.
Problem:
Great dismay and panic hit when my pc started popping up strange windows or messages. With my limited IT knowledge, I ran a Norton virus scan which obviously revealed a number of problems. But the Symantec removal tool did not remove the spyware and I could not even log onto a couple of password protected sites. My beloved pc was infected with some malware or adware or trojan, among which, I believe was WinFixer and a Trojan Vundo. I did not know how to get rid of Vundo or how to remove WinFixer. (Or perhaps they were the one and same thing?). But at that point, I did not know any better, so began the laborious task of searching for information on how to get rid of the spyware.
Research:
From my search, I found out that the Trojan Vundo is a trojan horse that causes popups advertising rogue antispyware programs. For example, the program called Sysprotect is advertised in many of the popup windows as seen from the screenshot below. Vundo infects a computer by creating a DLL file in the Windows system directory and writes registry entries causing Windows to inject the file into winlogon.exe.
WinFixer, on the other hand, has siblings as it is identical to WinAntiVirus and ErrorSafe. And these programs all claim to repair problems within your computer system. By installing the program on your computer, you will likely end up receiving false information about your computer. Naturally, this will confuse you into believing your PC is infected with viruses, spyware and/or other forms of malware.
The popups and forced downloads apparently mirror “marketing” strategies of many spyware programs. And at times, infected computers will reduce in their level of speed and performance. Well, this all explained what was probably happening to my pc, and I knew I had to figure out how to get rid of WinFixer and Vundo before they drove me mad.
Research and solution:
In my initial panic, I reacted by downloading some recommended antispyware programs, namely CounterSpy by Sunbelt Software, XoftSpy by ParetoLogic and Spy Sweeper by Webroot Software Inc. I came to my senses by the third program and stopped myself from paying for another popular program, Spyware Doctor. But hey, all these programs did receive pretty good reviews from the experts at PCWorld, PCMag, CNet, Tucows and AdwareReport. So at the time, I did not feel that I had gone too much overboard
Now, there are many sites listing all sorts of free and paid antispyware programs with a variety of reviews and user opinions on how to remove WinFixer and how to get rid of Vundo. Many of the commercial antispyware program homepages also list very detailed features of their products plus the latest research findings about current spyware threats. Have a look at this webpage that lists some of these reliable programs. www.consumerstyle.com/antispyware
Anyway, an opinion and recommendation I had read when researching for the reliable antispyware programs made heaps sense in that software you pay for is more likely to offer benefits over freeware, i.e., better support, more frequent updates and better pro-active protection measures. One just has to be careful when selecting the programs. According to the comments in the forums and review articles I read, many recommend using at least two programs to be able to catch the latest spyware that either program might miss (that was when I stopped myself from my downloading frenzy). I have learnt much more about my pc now and wish to share and perhaps amuse you my muddled but finally effective measures to cleaning up my pc and removing the spyware.
My actions:
My initial Norton antivirus scan found but was not able to delete Vundo, even after rebooting. The Symantec removal tool did not help at all. I had disconnected from the Internet, disabled system restore, and ran the removal tool, regularly and in safe mode. After numerous startups, varying with safe mode, and disabling antivirus, I even tried to figure out how to remove Vundo manually without messing with the registry, etc. Please note that some people had success with the Symantec removal tools, and some others, like me, did not. Apart from the Trojan Vundo, I was getting quite frustrated at not being able to remove WinFixer for the many windows continually popping up started to slow my computer down, and even freeze it at times.
So I first tried Xoftspy, which was the fastest when scanning my computer. I was pleased to have fewer pop ups, was able to remove WinFixer, and ended with a much faster internet connection.
Then with my next program, Spy Sweeper, I ran it twice and then did a full system scan. Lo and behold, Vundo was gone, no more popups and adware annoyances. I guess this might not work for everyone but it is worth a shot to download Spy Sweeper.
Being still paranoid about the health of my pc, I finally ran the the free two-week trial version of CounterSpy, for extra assurance. Now I was quite impressed as it also included a scheduler, secure file shredder, and a history cleaner that made it simple to set up weekly scans. And there are frequent definition file updates for CounterSpy’s publisher. The company seems to run a well-staffed spyware research department. After a scan, CounterSpy can delete, quarantine, or remove spyware. I was advised not to install Microsoft AntiSpyware alongside older versions of CounterSpy (version 1.5 and below). And it is recommended to get CounterSpy to check for online updates of definitions and program files manually.
Conclusion:
To sum it all, XoftSpy was able to delete WinFixer as the program was able to uninstall WinFixer within fifteen minutes requiring a couple of restarts. As for Spy Sweeper, it managed to remove Vundo with ease. And I have no doubt that CounterSpy has done a great job of keeping my pc free of spyware. I cannot say that I have taken the best approach to solving my problems, but my pc is now running faster than ever and I have been free of WinFixer and Vundo ever since. I just have to remember to be more careful and scan my pc regularly.
One thing is for sure, there are many reliable and popular antispyware programs out there, and many helpful forum chat folk who can lend a hand with plenty of technical advice. You just have to sort out what advice and which steps to take by increasing your own awareness and understanding of your pc and the nasty world of spyware lurking around these days.
