Keep Your PC Drivers Up-to-date
Drivers are small software programs that allow the computer to interact with different devices. These devices can include printers, scanners, mice, keyboards, USB drives and much more. Without the correct drivers installed, your computer would be useless and nothing would work.
As you can see, drivers are extremely important for the proper functioning of your PC. Unfortunately over time, they can become corrupt, go missing or just go out-of-date. If you are not updating your drivers, then your PC is probably not performing as well as it could. One of the key steps to improving PC performance is installing the correct drivers.
In the past, updating drivers could be a real pain. You had to identify which devices required the updates and then start searching for these online. It could take hours. However, there are now some great programs available that can fully scan your PC and not only identify which drivers to fix, but the software will download and install the right drivers for you. This whole process only takes a few minutes!! Now it’s possible to keep your PC up-to-date and optimized all the time.
Driver update software can update all of the drivers on your PC. It will first perform a scan and check against a huge driver database. Once it identifies which drivers need updating or fixing, you just check the boxes for the drivers you want and its done.
Now you can instantly fix and update drivers for the following devices in minutes:
Printers Scanners Motherboard BIOS Keyboard Display Drivers Audio Drivers USB Drivers and much more! The alternative to finding the right drivers is to search the manufacturer websites. If you wish to do this, you will first need to find out the exact name and details of the device. From there, you can visit the manufacturer site and hopefully they will have a search function. Just put in the details and it should bring up downloads for related drivers. Alternatively, just put the device name into a search engine. Another tip is to always keep your PC driver CDs. If you ever have to reformat, you will need to re-install all of the drivers.

Update Windows Drivers
What is a Driver Anyway? Drivers are the controllers that communicate between your PC’s operating system and the hardware that is on your computer. They make sure all the hardware and devices work together, streamlining communication to function effectively. A driver is kind of like an instruction manual for your computer on how to use this new video card, mouse, keyboard, web cam, hard drive, printer, etc. It tells the operating system which signal causes what function and what the hardware’s capabilities are.
When you buy new hardware, for instance a web cam or a printer, your PC won’t know how to operate it without instructions. Those instructions are contained as a driver, usually on a disc that comes with the product. Always keep these manufacturer’s disks in a safe place so if something does happen to the functionality of the hardware, you can quickly reinstall the supported manufacturer’s driver.
Drivers Gone Bad When hardware isn’t working properly, it can be often attributed to some kind of driver problem. Either the original driver has become corrupt or you need a newer version. Any time you install new software or update existing software, there is a possibility that your current drivers will be rendered useless. But as long as you are diligent about updating your drivers, your PC should continue to function smoothly!
Updating Drivers You can update your drivers in a variety of ways:
Method 1: Using Windows Update Go to Windows Update under All Programs in your Start menu and enter your search query in the Update Driver Software window. If Update finds any new drivers, it will install them on your PC automatically for you.
Method 2: Automatic Checks You can set Windows Update to automatically download and install recommended drivers for your PC. Open Windows Update (under All Programs in your Start menu) and select Change Settings. You can choose to either have your PC automatically install important and recommended, or just important updates.
Method 3: Manually Update Drivers Manually installing a driver is pretty easy, even without any technical savvy.
Go to the Start menu and select the Control Panel Click on Systems and then go to the Hardware tab Click on Device Manager and look for the device you need the updated driver for and double click on it Go to the Driver tab and select Update Driver When the install screen opens, choose “Install for a list or specific location” and click Next. Uncheck “search removable media” and check “Include this location in search.” Then click the browse button to go to the directory where you saved your new driver. Click Next and your PC will attempt to install the new driver. It may be necessary to reboot your computer after the installation.
If you’d like to pursue professional help in Driver Helper, there are many out there that can automatically identify driver errors and either suggest solutions or enact the fix right there and then. Click either of the links above to see our recommended program.

Updating Your Drivers is So Important

Updating Your Drivers is So Important
As a computer technician, I have encountered thousands of computer issues in my life. Most of them are very straightforward and for someone with the experience I have, not very hard to fix.
One of the more common problems I encounter are system errors due to old software drivers. When you first get a device such as a scanner, printer, video card or webcam and plug it on your computer they all come with drivers so the software and hardware will function together as they should. The problem is that over time, things change, they evolve for the better, and this is also very true for drivers. Manufactures constantly discover flaws in their drivers, or they simply need to change a few lines of code to solve a compatibility issue between the hardware device and various programs, or even other hardware devices. And the problem with this is that most people would never think that the reason a given application keeps crashing can be due to an outdated or missing driver.
Of course an outdated driver is not always the reason why your computer or an application keeps crashing, but it should definitely be considered. You would be surprised how often simply updating your drivers can give you that extra speed when playing a video game (video driver), or even increase your download speeds by simply updating your networks driver.
The problem is these drivers are often hard to find, sometimes even impossible to find! How many times have you gone to the manufacturers website to find the official driver for your product, only to realize that it’s not even available… That is why I recommend using tools to .
Here’s a real life example. A friend of mine called me a few times asking me if I knew why he’s image editing software, Photoshop, keeps crashing. So I finally went to check it out. I ran the Windows updates, still crashing… I checked if any updates for Photoshop where available, none… So I decided to run my favorite automatic driver updating tool. It found 5 outdated drivers: printer driver, USB driver, chipset driver, video driver and FireWire driver. We updated all of them with just a couple of clicks. After restarting the computer we opened up Photoshop, and guess what, it stopped crashing! We won’t know for sure which one of the drivers actually solved the problem, but it just goes to show how important updating your drivers can be.
So if you are having issues with your computer or an application you use keeps crashing. Then consider updating your drivers. And if you want to do it the fast way an update ALL your drivers, even the ones you would of never thought of, I suggest trying a automatic driver updating tool and get the latest official drivers in just a couple of clicks.

Installing Supplemental Device Drivers
Jan 10th
Installing Supplemental Device Drivers
The Windows operating system comes with a number of device drivers installed by default. However, as you customize your computer to your needs, other device drivers have to be installed. For instance, in order to get your printer to function, you would have to install the device drivers from the installation disc that accompanied the hardware. However, there may also be times when you need to install additional drivers from the manufacturer’s website.
Devices that commonly require additional drivers include the following:
o Plug-and-Play devices
o Non-plug and play devices
o Third-party HALs (Hardware Abstraction Layers)
Most plug-and-play devices allow you to do just that: plug in the hardware and enjoy instant functionality. Others are not automatically recognized by the operating system and therefore require additional driver installations. For example, if you want to install a new soundcard or graphics card, there is a great chance that your operating system will not have a driver for that device. Fortunately, acquiring the appropriate device drivers is easy as finding them on the manufacturer’s website, downloading them to your computer, and performing the installation.
How to Find the Appropriate and “Safest” Drivers
When dealing with third-party devices, it is always best to install drivers that are digitally signed by Microsoft. A digital signature shows that the driver has been tested and proven to function efficiently on the Windows operating system. It also ensures that device drivers can’t be modified or overwritten when installing new hardware or software.
To find out if a particular driver has a digital signature, open the “Start” menu and click “Run.” In the command field, enter “sigverif.” When the new window opens, click “Start” to initiate the process that scans your system for unsigned device drivers. You can create a log of the results by clicking the “Advanced” tab.
Another option you have is checking device driver signatures in the Device Manager utility. To access this utility, open the “Control Panel” and select “Device Manager.” Select the device from the list, right-click it, select “Properties,” click the “Driver” tab, and choose “Driver Details.” Among other details, you should see information stating that the hardware is Microsoft compatible device.
Modifying and <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.pcdriverhelper.com”>Updating New Drivers</a>
The additional drivers you install can also be updated or modified in the Device Manager. Simply follow the instructions above to launch the utility and select your device from the list. Right-click the device and select “Properties.” This window allows you to view details, update the driver, enable or disable the driver and roll back the driver. Simply choose the option that best suits your needs and follow the prompts.
Tips: Keep in mind that there may be a few peripherals that cannot be found in the Device Manager utility. Some of the most common hardware devices include printers, scanners, modems and digital cameras. To update and modify these device drivers, open the “Control Panel” and click “Printers” or “Printers and Other Hardware.” Choose the device in question, right-click it, select “Properties,” click the “Advanced” tab and choose “New Driver.” From there, you will be presented with prompts that will help you search for and install the updated device drivers.
For all your software and downloads queries you can refer to our <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.pcdriverhelper.com/Video+Card.html”>Driver Helper</a> for all the solutions.

How to Update Audio Drivers

How to Update Audio Drivers
How Audio Drivers Solve Sound Problems
If your computer’s sound card isn’t working or stops working under certain circumstances, it’s possible that a sound card update could solve the problem. Like all hardware devices on your system, the sound card can only work if audio drivers are installed. Even with drivers installed, problems such as conflicts with other devices are common. Not only that, new hardware or software installations could render your current sound card driver useless. Updating your computer’s audio drivers could solve the problem because hardware manufacturers are constantly receiving bug reports and issuing fixes via updated driver software. In addition, if another program overwrote your existing device driver or if the driver somehow became corrupt, an update will solve the problem by replacing the existing or damaged driver with a fresh copy.
Using Device Manager to Find Audio Drivers
Of course, before you can update your sound card, you’ll need to find the replacement drivers. Start by trying the Device Manager, which is built into Windows. If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, simply go to the Start button and type Device Manager into the Search bar. An icon for the Device Manager will appear. Launch the Device Manager by double-clicking its icon. Next, find the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers section in the list. Double-click this category and locate your sound card. Right-click your sound card and choose Properties. Click the Driver tab followed by the Update Driver button. Allow Windows to search for a fresh driver. If it finds one, it will automatically install it. Reboot your computer to complete the update and see if your problem is solved.
Searching the Sound Card’s Manufacturer’s Website for Audio Drivers
The manufacturer of your sound card most likely offers updated drivers on its website. Normally, manufacturers place this essential software in their “Downloads and Support” section. You will need to search for the specific model of your sound card and then choose the correct driver for your system. Make sure to pay attention to detail during this step as audio drivers are created specifically for the exact model of the card and for the exact operating system of your computer. Once you find the correct driver update, download it to your computer. The installation process varies from one manufacturer to the next with many manufacturers providing self-installing files. If the download doesn’t self-install, use Device Manager to update the sound card. Once again, you’ll go to Device Manager > Sound, Video, and Game Controllers, > Your Device > Properties > Driver > Update Driver. This time, you’ll choose the “Browse disk” option and locate your newly downloaded file. Once located, Windows will install the drivers and update your sound card. After the process completes, reboot the computer and see if your sound card’s problem is repaired.
Updating the sound card is relatively easy and it can solve numerous audio problems, especially those manufacturers have identified and fixed. In addition to updating the sound card when problems occur, it’s also smart to update it periodically as a preventative measure.
If you’re tired of manually updating audio drivers, consider automating the process. DriversUpdate.org shows you how!

USB Device Error – How to Update New USB Drivers
Dec 27th
USB Device Error – How to Update New USB Drivers
Why would anyone need new USB drivers? Don’t USB ports just sit there waiting around for a device to be plugged in? The truth is they do more than you think. They are the hardest working drivers on your entire computer! Without them, all your “plug n play” devices would stop working.
What Devices Use the USB Port
All of your plug n play devices will use the USB port. This includes the common mouse and printer. However, most people do not consider the other devices they use regularly. When the USB port goes out, you can no longer charge or update your cell phone. Your iPhone/iPod would stop working and you could lose everything.
Why USB Drivers are Important
When you think of all the devices that use them, it makes perfect sense why they are so important. No other driver on your computer has to do so much work. While most drivers only have to run one thing, any given USB driver may have to run a mouse, speaker, USB hub, microphone, printer, video, or over a hundred other peripheral devices. It has to be in top shape to quickly recognize the device and get it running properly.
How USB Ports are Damaged
When you consider all the factors, it is a wonder the USB ports don’t go out more often. But, for whatever reason, they rarely get damaged. When they do, it is generally because they have been overwritten by another driver, accidentally deleted, or have been corrupted. While it doesn’t happen often, it is a royal pain when it does.
Signs the USB Driver is Bad
The tell tale sign there is something wrong is an error message. It will generally say something like “Device Not Found”, “Device Not Recognized”, “Device Not Installed”, or “Device Driver Not Found.” These error messages let you know the driver has been corrupted and needs to be updated.
How to Update the Corrupted Drivers
Updating your drivers manually is not an easy project. It requires looking for each and every device installed on the USB port. Then you will need to go to each of those websites to locate the new driver. Once you have found a driver, you will need to download the new driver to your computer. Once they are all downloaded, you will need to go to Device Manager and install all the new drivers.
However, most people will prefer to use driver update software. With the software, you don’t have to do any of that. It will scan your computer for you. Then it will list all the drivers in need of updating. All you have to do is click “Scan” to start the process, click “Download” to get the latest drivers, and finally click “Install” to install all the drivers. It will only take a few minutes and it will all be done for you.
Installing new USB drivers will keep your computer and its devices running properly.
